Ok, true story:

It being just past 3am here, I was happily cruising my manga collection when my cats strange behaviour pricked my senses.
Following the cat out of the computer room, nothing seemed overly strange, so I assumed the cat was just off to another room to sleep.
Then...it hissed.

And something ducked into the shadows of the other room.

...Not good.

Thinking it was one of the wild cats that sporadically investigate our house (being that we're the only place within 30kms that has cats)I went to gently shoo it out.

Imagine my surprise that when I turned on the lights I did not see a small cat. In fact, I saw a moderately large skanky fox running up our couches (well I got an impression of brown and a long nose as it ran, my first thought was that it was a jackal, but there aren't any in Australia, and was later able to positively ID it as a fox. A skanky fox that looked half starved).

Being the brave person that I am, I ran and shut myself in the TV room and waited for the scuffling and barking to die down, to ensure the other animals had chased it from the house.
(The fact that it was only after the cat that was locked in the computer room with me heard it or whatever, that the other animals reacted doesn't inspire me with confidence it it had been something more ominous. Tomorrow, computer room cat gets a reward...if I can find him)

Unfortunately, the fox was there long enough and took the liberty to, "mark" it's territory.
*cough choke hack, hold the nose*

To top it off, on my way back from informing my parents and retrieving my hockey stick what?! it was a wild skanky fox, I'm not giving it another chance to get close enough to bite I discovered the remains of a half eaten mouse right outside my door, ok so it was basically just the head, but still...

*sigh*
Don't you just love animals?

I wonder if next time I go out of the room it's going to be a koala or something...

(Despite what this seems to say of me, I generally like most wild animals. I just like them far away from me, and not in the middle of the night when no one else is awake)

*sigh*
