Plea for Help for my Xmas List

Hey hoo,

Guess, what?

Yes, this is Arccie actually speaking. I'm not dead. (groans of disappointment are not appreciated thank you very much!!!)

I've started working on my fanfics again, so I'll try and be productive and actually publish something in my other journal sometime soon. I feel like such a slacker. I think it's been about 3 months since I actually did any writing (and I have soo forgotten my writing style, I've mangled it with other influences)

Anyway, I need some help to pick out my christmas present. I'm shipping over an anime boxset, but I don't know what to choose. Any help or thoughts at all will be of great help.

What do I like in an anime series?
Well, pretty (slashable) boys are always appreciated.
Good quality art/animation (preeety is good)
Good plot line, with an acceptable satisfying end (no...build up to the climax, build up build up and then "flop")...and when I mean plot, I mean actual plot PoT crack story lines are OK, but EXCEL saga, not really my thing.
I probably prefer action series, or at least series that have a fair deal of actionable scenes (I like Fruits Basket, but examining my collection it seems one of the rare series that isn't full of action)
Oh, and preferable main characters that aren't annoying i.e. don't want to make me smother myself with a pillow in embarassment of them or that spend the entire time bragging.

This is the list of possible animes:

(ones I actually know something about)
Outlaw Star
Samurai Deeper Kyo
Rurouni Kenshin
Escaflowne
Rahxephon
Sorcerer Hunters
Peacemaker
Pilot Candidate
GadGuard
Wolf's Rain
Generator Gawl
Chrono Crusade
Hack Sign
Arjuna

(ones I've heard are good, but know nothing about)
Berserk
Irresponsible Captain Tylor
Yukikaze
Lodoss War
Aquarian Age
Betterman
Soul Hunter
Wild Arms
Dai-Guard
Android Kikaider
Kaleido Star
Key the Metal Idol

...Yes I know that's a long list, but I'm an indecisive person, and I'm all like "ooh ANIME!"

Any other series recommendations would be cool, and I can take them into consideration for birthday and christmas's later on.
I really want GSeed, Saiyuki and Soukyu no Fafner (the main character is so almost another Kira), but as no box sets, it's too expensive to get them shipped over here.

Oh christmas time, oh christmas time, why are you making my life difficult?

Kenshin! But I'm biased since it's the one that got me back into the anime phase when I fell out of it as a child.
Pretty boy with a swored *drools* he so owns me.
I like escaflowne too... I maul Dilando to death, that crazy, ego-centric, vain, pyromaniac.
I read Rahxephon... but I really really really hated the girl... so very much...she was a really big turn off. Worse than Sakuno in my opinion, but maybe she's not as bad in the anime.

Now I have to plot your present... I need your address too. I sent you mine.

P.S. And we need to plot our joint journal, he need to create CRACK!

Oh my gosh, if you like action manga, you've GOT to buy Samurai Deeper Kyo. I'm collecting it as well. It's funny like hell in the beginning then it gets kind of philosophical (not the lame, corny kind). The drawing is not bad too and the characs are endearing ^^ There're gigantic plot twists like everywhere so there's no chance of it getting boring. It hasn't ended yet but I think it's approaching the end. (I'm following it faithfully every week ^^) It's one of my favourite manga. (Do NOT, under any circumstance, watch the anime though) I think it's definitely worth a buy!

Ok, sorry, please ignore the first comment because if you're buying anime, forget about Samurai Deeper Kyo. The anime is total s*** and it doesn't do justice to the manga at all. I think you can try out Black Cat but I'm not sure if the DVD for that has come out yet because currently there're like only 5 episodes. ^^

You would love Peacemaker Kurogane, your tastes sound similar to mine. :) The crack in PMK made me die laughing (you haven't lived until you watch the carousel-music scene).

I'll tell you which episode that's in if you really need me to ... *scratches head* Too tired to go look for it now.

Besides that, Chrno Crusade was great, but the ending was ... hmm. I thought it was a good way to go, but you may disagree, because a lot of people did.

.hack//sign is slow. The story moves along painfully slowly. I've abandoned my efforts to finish the story already, and I tried up to somewhere around episode 8 or 9 (or was it 12?). However, .hack//twilight was good. :)

Escaflowne was neat, but definitely like Fushigi Yuugi. Go for that if you want long epic love stories.

If you like sports anime (hey, you like PoT, who knows?) try Whistle, Dear Boys, Major. :) And if you enjoy slice-of-life, PLEASE, get Genshiken (makes fun of otakus) or Honey and Clover (art school students searching for a meaning in life).

There are a lot more, and I'm surprised Fullmetal Alchemist isn't on your list. Feel free to ask if you would like a blow-by-blow on recent fansub releases, I'm pretty much up to speed on most series. :) (Not all, but most.)

Since I am a Greg Ayres fangirl -- Chrono Crusade!!! *clear throat* THat and the story will make you cry....it is the best story I have seen in awhile. Seriously...and c'mion a demon who is adorabel both small and large? It's true love ....((If you didn't know Greg is teh voice of Chrono))

Again with Peacemaker, greg brought me in and the story kept me. I love men with swords....alos Samurai 7 is awseome...*hides the credits where it says Greg's name*

Okay! I admit it! I stalk the man through anime...but he did Kaworu Nagisa in Direcotrs cut Eva....the man has skills! ANd is SO awesome!!!

I own Wolfs Rain and Samurai Deeper Kyo. Both are FABULOUS. Again in Kyo -- smexy men with swords....you gotta love it!

GSeed and GSeed Destiny are AMAZING....and I think GSeed is Boxed. *blinks* pretty sure...I will check and get back to you. Saiyuki is lovely. Um with reload...um...good story...BAD dubbing...*mutters about it being Hakkai and not Hawk Eye* Sorry....mini rant. But everyone MUST own Saiyuki. *nod nod*

Okay and I have now babbled your ear off...sorry bout that!!

OMG GET RUROUNI KENSHIN GET IT GET IT GET ITTT!!!!

*prods you with katana*

RUROUNI KENSHIN TO THE nTH DEGREE!!

BRILLIANT ART, MAGNIFICENT STORYLINE (though it deviates slightly from the manga), WONDERFUL SEIYUU AND GENIUS MUSIC!

It's the benchmark I set all anime and manga by. (=

I'm a bit new here, so you probably haven't seen me yet, so...yeah. ^_^

Personally, I think you should get Rurouni Kenshin, I already have the entire set. >.<

Sign up for eBay (you'll probably get the entire series for just $40-$60, and others for around less....) ^.^

Well...that's my suggestion, I suppose.

Stuff?

Samurai Champloo if there is it (unless you've already got it)? It's really hilarious and the art's pretty good. I'd even suggest Saiyuki, more for the voice actors than the art. The art in Saiyuki is okay, but the manga is definitly better (you know how there are those anime that are much better as manga.. but then when you watch it, the voice actors just capture the character so beautifull and *sigh* ) ...Sorry if this is no help/too late!
