Soo...I went and saw the Transformers movie today with a uni friend.
As per my normal routine I was almost late and was speeding along never before travelled roads in pouring rain...FUN!
The movie was actually a lot of fun and a great watch.
♥ Bumblebee (though I prefer him when he's googly-eyed and not talking)
The 2 main male characters were quite a lot of fun, though Sam required about 30minutes to be really cool and interesting. The main female character was also very fun, especially as when she first appeared on the scene my immediate thought was "Oh no! Not another useless romantic interest." But she came through and was her own kind of kick ass.
For the actual plot...well it was non-stop action and some great humour. Not the most indepth plot of course, and they didn't even bother to try and cover the entirety of transformers history (or so my Transformer-fanatic friend tells me). He also mentioned that they totally ruined some of the "truths of transformers". But yeah, a good movie in and of itself, though it will probably be getting the hard-core Transformer fans a bit riled.
Oh and they seem to have ruled out the possibilty of a sequel (whether that's a good or bad point is up to you I suppose)
...so how's that for a thumbs up or thumbs down
julzbat?

on 2007-06-28 02:18 pm (UTC)And seeing as I'm not a Transformer fanatic, just an appreciator...I think I'll have fun watching it.

on 2007-06-29 09:39 am (UTC)Morgan and I both had fun watching it (although a lot of the time it seemed like it was only us laughing). I thoroughly enjoyed just as a movie, without any background knowledge and Morgan enjoyed it as a movie and slightly as a Transfomrers fanatic.
When are you off to see it?

on 2007-06-29 05:16 pm (UTC)The transformers series never really interestde me because really...the transfomring cars were not that interesting.
...but I have to admit to a soft spot for Transformers:Beast Wars. Now those were interesting transformations; apes, sabretooth tigers, dinosaurs (ignoring the fact that these groups of organisms didn't occur simultanously in history).
I actually really enjoyed the movie, was one of those ones where you've got edge of your seat action happening almost non-stop, but it's also humourous. Plus the Autobots had really fun personalities...and Bumblebee was so cute I just wanted to squish him (...even if he is a car)
I stopped with the HP serialisation after the 4th book...the 5th book didn't appeal and the 6th book even less so (although I know all the major plot points from both these books, hard to reaad post-OoTP fanfics otherwise)...but the 5th movie looks like it's worth seeing.
I expect 7th book spoilers from you so I knwo whether I should work through my reluctance and bother to finish the series at some point in the future.
(I went through and checked out the movie releases for the next 5 years, so I really have my movie-viewing all lined up *shakes head* Still can't believe they've got 5 Shreks planned)

on 2007-06-30 12:33 am (UTC)I'm sure I'll flail about Book 7 once I read it! I think you should read HP5&6 just to have read them--I haven't reread them since the first time and I keep reading fic and going "o rly? That happened? ...okay". But still. I guess it's the principle of the thing. XD
...Five Shreks? ARE THEY KIDDING? Oh my God.

on 2007-07-18 08:00 am (UTC)I'm relying on your flailing about book 7 to determine my own urge to read it...that and everyone else's. I just think that fandom deals a lot better with some of the issues that J.K Rowling only lightly glosses over...then again it is good to know the canon of a fandom.
Yep 5...which I wasd really surprised about because...hey, most movies can't survive a single sequel (and with the way they advertised Shrek 3...I'd be surprised if they manage to keep their audience)

on 2007-07-18 02:21 pm (UTC)I am sure to make many a post on HP7 once I've read it. :D And before then too. All my icons have been HP-ized. I'm so excited!
Oh damn...I heard Shrek 3 was not awesome. I'm not sure how 4 or 5 will go over...
