[Ad] SMASH! Fanfiction Competition
Jun. 16th, 2013 05:45 pmLove to re-imagine your favourite characters in exciting and unusual situations and have the knack for writing exciting stories? Then come and join the fun at SMASH! and participate in our fanfiction competition!
Imagination is key! Just think about it…
How does America get his first date with England?
What would Kingdom Hearts be like if Kairi was the Keyblade master?
Where will the Straw Hats journey end?
Tweaking the canon or disregard it entirely.
Exploration - the definition: analysis of subject; travel for discovery
“It is said that the darkest hour of the night comes just before the dawn.” - Paul Coelho
To be in on the action, write a ficlet (<1000 words) or a short story (1001-7500 words) inspired by one of these prompts. Entries will be judged via online voting by the general public, as well as a panel of reputable fanfiction authors chosen for their skills and knowledge of a broad range of fandoms. There are no restrictions on what pairings can be in the fanfic, but content must be rated G or PG.
Deadline: 11:59PM June 23

SMASH! (Sydney Manga and Anime Show) is a convention by fans for fans. We have a really strong focus on creativity from artists to cosplayers to authors.
SMASH! is running a fanfiction competition for those interested in taking a bit of creative license to canon (or possibly throwing it right out the window).
Take your favourite series or characters and shape and twist them to your heart’s content.
Entries will be judged by a panel of reputable fanfiction authors, chosen for their skills and knowledge of a broad range of fandoms.
To be in on the action, have a look at the fandom list (you’re sure to know at least one of them), and pick one of our prompts to use as broadly as you like to write your fanfic. The skies the limits for what you choose to write (any scene, any pairing), but all fanfics must be rated G or PG. The word length of fics is recommended to be between 1000 to 5000 words, but this is a recommendation, not a hard limit.
Unfortunately prizes will only be awarded to entrants from Australia or New Zealand, but others are welcome to enter and receive feedback from our judges.
Deadline - Midnight, July 1st 2010

Sep. 15th, 2008 09:27 pmBecause I was tempted by the unknown...
( Darn you ambigous answers. )
In other news...yes I know I still fail at updating. I've picked up more work shifts and am starting to try and pull together my project outline for my honours. Also banging my head against the idiosyncrasies of computers (particularly those which run windows OS on top of the apple OS) *sighs* (9hours straight today with only minor progress)
I'm around on occasion...and occasionally manage to reply to people's posts.
But I still love you all.
I swear!

*tackles and bear hugs you all*
( Ramblings and quizzes and well...edging on babbling. But that really should be expected from me after exams. You can't say there weren't warnings. )
*luffles you all*
See you on the net.

Tardiness is a different sort of disease
Dec. 24th, 2007 12:51 amAs per usual with my family, I haven't managed to run on time with my christmas plans this year.
This was mostly helped along by my older sisters "absolutely necessary" party, which involved many days of physical labour and as much time as possible to retreat into sleep.
Anyway, presents still haven't been sent off. I'm off to the post office with them tomorrow.
Sorry about lateness...then again they aren't exactly christmas presents, more like holiday appreciation gifts anyway (that come wrapped in xmas wrapping paper).
Most of you should get them within a month (maybe 2 since Canada can't seem to get packages to people in less than that)
Oh
julzbat we need to meet up soon. I'm working the 29th, but am otherwise free. Let me know your plans...
EDIT: GAH! Slept in and managed to miss the post. Guess I'll be sending them off after everything opens again in a couple of days. Sorry

Christmas/Season wishlist exchange
Dec. 2nd, 2007 01:50 pmWow, I can't believe it's already almost christmas again. Time really flies even when you're not having fun.
Anyway I thought I'd do the necessary christmas/season exhange post.
I've been really busy this year, so I haven't really had a lot of time to interact with people and months as a time went between posts and comments. Yet a few of you have managed to make me feel your loving friendship all year, even when I was absent. So I have a few gifts lined up for people.
Sooo:
danii06
forochel
kasugai_gummie
meitachi
windyhurrice
and of course the also much absent B-kins
Be expecting stuff in your mailbox...probably shortly after christmas (as soon as I hunt down your addresses again). Probably not something on any of your wishlists, but something that reminds me of you.
If anyone else would likerambling incoherency a letter or christmas card, drop me a line with a link to your address and I'll get right on it.
As for my wishlist:
1)Reciprocity is always heart-warming
2)Any fandom shinies you'd like to dedicate to me...:P
Fanfic, icons, etc. are always appreciated in any of a few fandoms...KKM (gen/ConYuu), PoT (Ryoma), Reborn (Gokudera), Oofuri (Mihashi *crows* Duck-boy *cough*), DGM (Allen), ES21 (Hiruma, Sena, Shin)
3)Good slashy or gen. books (particularly fantasy ones) Very sick of unrealistic female characters and the unbelievable romance elements that take over the plot.
4)For all my wonderful friends to have a lovely and much enjoyed christmas/holiday season, full of happiness and fun
Still working on that coming to visit...was almost going to be in North America for your next winter(?) session...but that looks like it's falling through as the government seems willing to offer me money if I start my honours project and run it over christmas next year.
Anyway, for my contact details go here (locked post of course)
*love and hugs for you all*
Psssst, of course all my Australian friends who I'll see soon will get theirs by hand.
