Analysis of my writing...

arccieI've been looking at the stories I've published in the last year of actually being active in a fandom, and I have to say I'm kind of disappointed in myself, so I just thought I'd jot down some of the salient points I noticed about my fics.
NOTE this is not me fishing for compliments, having a pity party, wanting to be cheered up, etc. This is just what I felt when looking over my fics.
Okie, I'm gonna try and keep this short as otherwise I'll probably start noticing things I haven't noticed before and then I'll depress myself and find I'm in no mood for writing.
I think my earlier fic attempts are of better quality than a lot of my more recent stuff.
Not neccessarily to say that my most recent stuff is bad...it's just that to me it seems as though in a number of these fics I've sacrificed the literary quality for the crack.
...never a good thing when writingserious...semi-serious? pieces of fiction.
This is not to say that I didn't enjoy writing those fics, because for the most part, I did. My brain works in way even I can't understand sometimes, and it's interesting to see what it churns out.
But the stories seem to have lost their flow. Each sentence awkwardly joining to the next.
The characterisation is still there, but...
*sigh*
I think I'm going to try and go back more towards my earlier writing.
I'm not going to stop writing crack, I'll just work harder to keep the literary quality up.
Maybe this year I'll even actually get round to attemtping the many (more numerous than even my oneshot ideas) multi chapter plots.
Oh well...thanks for listening to my rambling.
